What makes us unique: I started in the insurance industry in 1996 with an independent agency located in Illinois that had been around since 1926. Seemingly unrelated, around 2015, I started home brewing on a regular basis. Knowing beer is much more interesting than insurance, I began to look for a way to blend my hobby with my livelihood, which led to me starting a division of my agency devoted to the specialty of insuring breweries. I titled this division InsureTheBrewery.com after the website I developed to give those searching for proper insurance a place to land.

A brewery to call our own: As for brewing, in 2019 I, along with a few business partners, took it to the next level by opening Forgottonia Brewing in Macomb, IL. Like many of those I have gotten to know through the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild, we are a very local brewery with a small taproom that caters to our community.

Industry knowledge is key: Having a deep understanding of both the insurance and brewing industries allows me to walk my clients through the process of getting properly insured. Our agency also has the benefit of having access to dozens of insurance companies, allowing me to work on behalf of the brewery rather than the insurance company.

“The process was smooth and efficient, and Beau explained everything very knowledgeably. … Because he is also the owner of a brewery, he recognizes the specific needs and budget.”   —  Jordan Radke, Pilot Project Brewing

My goal when helping a fellow brewery with their insurance is to have an open and honest conversation, and then go to work on their behalf to find the best options. Occasionally, this might even mean recommending they stay with their current company with a few changes to the policy.

The brewing business is unlike any I have ever worked in. The people are kind, generous and always willing to help each other, even if it would appear to the outside that they are competitors.

Putting your mind at ease: By partnering with nationally recognized companies that offer competitive pricing and a second-to-none claim service, we can set up the proper program that puts your mind at ease and allows you to focus on what’s important: making great beer.

Testimonial: “At the suggestion of our accountant, we called Beau to review our insurance and discuss it further. He was able to increase our coverage while actually saving us thousands of dollars, and he did so in a timely manner. The process was smooth and efficient, and Beau explained everything very knowledgeably. … Because he is also the owner of a brewery, he recognizes the specific needs and budget.” — Jordan Radke, Pilot Project Brewing

This crisp, easy-drinking blueberry American wheat ale is the flagship beer from the popular Keg Grove in Bloomington (now with a second location in Morris, IL). Owner Jeff Mroz and his crew originally brewed Holey Jeans for their wives, many of whom didn’t drink beer before, and it ended up spawning an entire fruited wheat series for the brewery.

Fun fact: It’s named for a friend of theirs who purchased jeans with holes already in them, which they found hilarious.
