The last really good beer I drank was… 

Most recently, I was very impressed with Black and Cyan from Industry Ales in Chicago. It was an impressively well-balanced, blended beer. I would highly recommend trying one.

What fellow Illinois breweries and specific beers have impressed you lately?

I recently had the pleasure of sampling delicious beers at Industry Ales (Cosmic Spaghetti Italian pilsner) in downtown Chicago, White Oak Brewing (Rippin Lips IPA) in Normal and Will County Brewing (Giant’s Hand bourbon barrel-aged stout) — they will be missed.

I appreciate White Oak’s consistency in their beers, especially their IPAs. They are clean, crisp and refreshing.

What are you most proud of at Keg Grove?

I would say that I am most proud of our team for positively adapting to ever-changing beer-style demands and our ability to relate to and engage with our guests.

What do you have coming up that people should know about?

In Bloomington, we have our Christmas in July celebration on July 25, and live music every Saturday afternoon. In Morris, we are excited for this year’s French Hens Markets and car shows on the second Saturday of each month, and this year’s Cornfest in late summer.

We have a fun new feature in both Bloomington and Morris called Tiki Tuesdays, where we feature beer-based tropical drinks in tiki glasses with umbrellas.

We have many fruited wheat beers that have recently come out: raspberry, pina colada, mango, watermelon, pineapple, etc. We have our Vienna lager, called Bier, out now as well. We also have a sour guava beer named Flamingo Calves that’s become quite popular.

Lastly, we have a fun new feature in both Bloomington and Morris called Tiki Tuesdays, where we feature beer-based tropical drinks in tiki glasses with umbrellas.
